Quetta, January 20:
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has announced that January 25 will be observed as ‘Baloch Genocide Remembrance Day’ to commemorate victims of alleged repression and human rights violations in Balochistan. The committee called upon Baloch communities and human rights activists across the world to organise peaceful events, seminars, and demonstrations to draw international attention to the situation in the region.
In a statement, the BYC said the observance aims to honour those who have lost their lives and to amplify voices demanding justice and accountability. The committee urged global human rights organisations, civil society groups, and international media to highlight what it described as systematic repression of the Baloch people. The announcement comes amid continued allegations of enforced disappearances and rights abuses, with the BYC stressing the need for sustained global awareness and solidarity.
