Mumbai, January 19: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday renewed his claim that several Shinde Sena corporators were allegedly confined in a hotel, following the recent BMC elections verdict. Speaking to the media, Raut questioned the ruling party’s motives, asking, “What is BJP afraid of?” and accused the opposition of using intimidation tactics to influence political outcomes.
Raut’s remarks come amid heightened political tension in Maharashtra, with both Shiv Sena factions claiming victory and challenging each other over alleged coercion of elected representatives. He emphasized that attempts to suppress corporators’ voices will not succeed and called for transparency and accountability in the handling of elected officials. Political analysts note that these claims could further intensify the rivalry between BJP and Shinde Sena in the state, keeping the focus on the aftermath of the BMC polls and governance in Mumbai.
