The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again stirred controversy by proposing to rename Hyderabad as ‘Bhagya’, reigniting debates around name-change politics in India. BJP leaders have claimed that the new name better reflects cultural heritage and local identity, but critics argue that the move is politically motivated, aimed at stirring public sentiment ahead of upcoming elections. The announcement has generated widespread discussion on social media, with citizens expressing both support and opposition, highlighting deep divides over the need for renaming cities versus addressing governance and development issues.
