Los Angeles, January 8:
Hollywood actor-director Ben Affleck has described the Academy Awards snubs faced by Argo in 2013 as “embarrassing,” reflecting on the controversy more than a decade later. While the film went on to win Best Picture, Affleck was notably not nominated in the Best Director category, a decision that sparked widespread debate at the time.
Speaking about the episode, Affleck said the omission felt awkward given the film’s overall success and critical acclaim. He acknowledged the support the movie received from audiences and the industry but admitted that the snub stood out as an unusual moment in Oscar history. Argo, a political thriller based on real events, remains one of Affleck’s most celebrated works.
