New Delhi, December 30:
The Ministry of Education on Tuesday unveiled the major guidelines for the 2026 Board Examinations for Classes 10 and 12, outlining key procedural changes and policy directives aimed at standardising the assessment process across the country. According to officials, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other recognised school boards have been instructed to ensure strict adherence to exam schedules, evaluation norms, and student facilitation measures. The guidelines emphasise the importance of fairness, transparency and flexibility in conducting the exams, while also accommodating students who may require special provisions or alternative assessment methods due to medical or other valid reasons.
Among the notable directives, the Education Ministry has stressed the use of robust question paper security protocols, including digital encryption and staggered distribution to examination centres, to prevent leaks and irregularities. Schools and exam centres have been instructed to display seating plans, invigilator details and exam instructions prominently at least one week prior to the commencement of examinations. Additionally, the guidelines reinforce that students must carry only approved materials, such as admit cards, valid ID proof and authorised stationery, to the exam hall, with strict action prescribed for malpractice or possession of prohibited items. The Ministry also encouraged boards to incorporate well-communicated grievance redressal mechanisms and ensure swift resolution of student queries related to exam schedules, centre changes or evaluation concerns.
