Washington, December 20:
NASA on Saturday released stunning images of comet 3I/ATLAS as it made a close flyby past Earth. The comet, travelling at high speed through the solar system, provided astronomers with a rare opportunity to study its composition and trajectory in detail.
Officials said the photos were captured using both ground-based telescopes and space observatories, revealing intricate details of the comet’s tail and icy core. Scientists highlighted that such flybys allow for improved understanding of cometary behavior and the early solar system.
Astronomy enthusiasts around the world shared and analysed the images, with many observing the comet through telescopes and photography equipment. NASA emphasised that while the comet passed relatively close to Earth, it posed no threat to the planet.
