Oscars 2026: Homebound Shortlisted For Best International Feature Film

Los Angeles/Mumbai, Dec 17: India’s official entry for the **98th Academy Awards, “Homebound,” has been shortlisted for the Best International Feature Film category, advancing to the next stage of Oscar contention. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed that Homebound is among 15 films selected from 86 global submissions to compete for nomination in this prestigious international category. The shortlist places the film on the threshold of a potential Academy Award nomination, with the final nominations set to be announced in January 2026 ahead of the Oscars ceremony scheduled for March 15, 2026.

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Karan Johar, Homebound features Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor and tells a deeply human story about childhood friends navigating friendship, social pressures and aspirations in contemporary India. The film has already earned critical acclaim on the international festival circuit, including a celebrated premiere at Cannes and strong reception at the Toronto International Film Festival.
