MeitY Issues Notice to Apple After Spyware Alerts to Indian Users

New Delhi, December 11: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on Wednesday issued a notice to Apple following alerts about potential spyware being detected on devices used by Indian customers. The notice seeks clarification on the nature of the security threat, measures taken to protect users, and steps to prevent unauthorized access to personal data.

Officials said MeitY is closely monitoring the situation and urged Apple to provide detailed information on device security protocols, the scope of the alerts, and the timeline for remedial actions. Cybersecurity experts highlighted the importance of such regulatory oversight in safeguarding users’ privacy, emphasizing that timely interventions are critical in preventing data breaches and ensuring the trust of consumers in digital devices.
