Pretoria, November 27, 2025:
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday described former US President Donald Trump’s latest decision as “deeply regrettable,” triggering fresh diplomatic tension between the two nations. While addressing the media in Pretoria, Ramaphosa said the move undermines years of cooperation and weakens mutual trust between strategic partners.
The South African government indicated it would review its diplomatic approach and engage global allies to safeguard national interests. Officials also stressed that South Africa remains committed to peace, stability, and fair international engagement despite the setback caused by the controversial decision.
