In a major push toward next-generation technology, the Government of India has approved funding to establish quantum research labs in 100 engineering colleges across the country. The initiative aims to accelerate India’s capabilities in quantum computing, sensing, secure communication, and advanced materials—key areas expected to shape the future of global tech innovation.
Officials confirmed that the project will help create a robust ecosystem where students, researchers, and start-ups can collaborate on high-impact quantum solutions. With India already investing heavily through the National Quantum Mission, this expansion into engineering campuses is expected to produce a skilled workforce, boost indigenous research, and strengthen India’s position in the global quantum technology race.
