Mumbai, November 17, 2025: A fresh debate has erupted in Indian cricket circles over whether VVS Laxman should step in as India’s Test coach, replacing Gautam Gambhir. With recent mixed performances in the longest format, several former players and analysts argue that Laxman’s calm approach, technical depth, and experience at the NCA make him an ideal fit to rebuild India’s red-ball domination.
Supporters of Gambhir, however, believe the current coach needs more time to execute his long-term plans.
