Seoul, November 17, 2025: South Korean President has launched a strong nationwide campaign against what he calls “workplaces of death,” drawing from his own traumatic experience of being injured years ago. The President emphasized that no worker should fear losing their life simply by going to earn a living, urging ministries to identify unsafe industries and enforce stricter compliance.
The government is preparing a series of aggressive reforms targeting construction, manufacturing, and heavy industry—sectors responsible for the majority of fatal accidents. Officials in Seoul say the new policy will include surprise inspections, tougher penalties for negligence, and mandatory safety audits. The President’s personal connection to the issue has intensified public support, with labour groups calling it a long-overdue move toward safer working conditions in South Korea.
