
Brussels, October 23, 2025 — Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held discussions with the European Union’s Commissioner for Trade to address outstanding issues related to the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The meeting focused on resolving key trade and investment concerns, including market access, regulatory harmonization, and tariff structures, with the aim of expediting the FTA negotiations and enhancing bilateral economic ties.
Minister Goyal emphasized India’s commitment to a balanced and mutually beneficial agreement that promotes trade, investment, and economic growth for both sides. The EU Commissioner highlighted the importance of addressing technical and regulatory barriers to facilitate smoother commerce. Both parties agreed to continue high-level consultations to resolve pending issues and move closer to finalizing the long-awaited trade pact.
