
New Delhi, Nov 10 — Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has officially begun pre-budget consultations with leading economists as preparations for the Union Budget 2026 get underway. The meeting focused on macroeconomic stability, growth-driven reforms, fiscal consolidation, and strategies to strengthen India’s economic momentum amid global uncertainties.
Economists shared recommendations on boosting investments, job creation, taxation reforms, and welfare spending, while also stressing the need to support key sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, and digital innovation. The Ministry is expected to hold a series of consultations with industry bodies, financial institutions, agriculture experts, and social sector representatives before finalising the budget proposals.
