At least 25 people lost their lives in a devastating fire that broke out at a crowded nightclub in Goa, sending shockwaves across the country. Among the victims, four were confirmed to be Nepalese nationals, officials said. The fire reportedly spread rapidly due to highly flammable interior materials, leaving many trapped inside as panic erupted at the packed venue.
Several others suffered serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals. Fire and rescue teams rushed to the scene and managed to control the blaze after intense efforts. The state government has ordered a high-level investigation into the cause of the fire, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Goa Chief Minister expressed deep grief and announced ex-gratia compensation for the victims’ families. Security norms at nightlife venues across the state are now under strict review.
